Kip Keen
Senior reporter & editor, S&P Global Energy (Platts)
I cover mining, metals, critical minerals and the energy transition for S&P Global Energy as a Platts reporter, writing on copper, uranium, rare earths and the supply chains that tie them to trade policy, geopolitics and the grid. My reporting is analytical and often data-driven, built on trade flows and production figures as much as interviews. I've spent more than 15 years in commodities and mining journalism, including stints at The Northern Miner and Mineweb, editing three regional trade magazines, and helping build the mining community site CEO.CA. My reporting has taken me to operating mines and exploration sites, giving me a solid understanding of what it means to find and transform ore into the things we use in daily life. My research-driven sustainability and energy reporting has won national Azbee awards (Gold 2023, Bronze 2022).
I'm based in Nova Scotia and am dad to two great boys. When I'm away from the desk, you'll usually find me in the woods.
